The Bridgeport Basics Celebrates Launch

The Bridgeport Basics launches on June 26, 2017 as part of the mid-year convening for Bridgeport Prospers. More than 100 people from the community, the region and the state will come together at the University of Bridgeport to view The Bridgeport Basics, review data about the needs of the city’s children, youth and families, and learn about progress now underway to seek solutions.

Juliette Price, the Director of the Albany Promise, will keynote the convening and share how that city moved from inaction to dramatic civic engagement and action in just 18 months.

Commissioner Roderick Bremby, Connecticut Department of Social Services, will participate and share how his agency is changing to better serve families.

Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker, Chief Operating Officer of the Connecticut State Department of Education, will attend and share best practices to help families and schools address chronic absenteeism together, and much more effective family engagement.

The convening is from 8:30 to noon, and you must register to attend. All people who come will have a chance to participate in three different “speed data” tables to help us figure out the “why” behind some challenging facts and “how” we can change these.
